Dryden Links: Is There Anything We Can Learn From Them?

It’s a tricky business. Life, that is.

If you’re too close-minded you run the risk of limiting yourself in the opportunities open to learning, growing and flourishing. If you’re too open-minded you can end up not having any anchor on what’s true, real and of benefit. It’s at this point that some would suggest that we need to search for a ‘balance’. Nope. I’m not encouraging a balanced approach. I’m encouraging a well-grounded approach.

This comes in handy when considering the wisdom Frank Viola offers in a recent blog entry considering the matter of whether or not we can learn anything from pagans. Check the wisdom in the piece carefully. I don’t read him promote a balanced approach as if you can take equal measures of both sides to reach a satisfying conclusion.

It’s timely coming across this article because of a look I’ve had at James 3 and what he has to say about the best approach to living the wise life. So many are looking for a way to succeed in life. So much is presented giving the impression it is the path to that success. If you’re not well-grounded, it doesn’t matter what you look for, you’ll end up being blown over and collapsing never to get up again.

That’s not something I’d want for you. So give the article a read and all the best in looking for and applying the right foundations to live the wise life.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
