A Word of Wisdom: It’s About Purity

But the wisdom from above is first pure

James 3:17

There is something about purity.

If you hear that something is pure then there is something reassuring about that. There is something that sure suggest clean and there’s something about it that also talks about what it’s not. It is not contaminated. It’s not corrupted. It’s trustworthy and true. It won’t mess you up. It won’t poison you. It won’t do those things, it will tend to do the other things. That which is pure brings delight, brings joy, brings that degree of freshness, free from anything that would bring you down and make things murky.

The wisdom from above is noted first of all for being pure. God’s wisdom comes without contamination. It is not to corrupt and compromise. It is not bringing about murky and ugliness. It is not about hidden agendas and schemes that presents a false front. Wisdom from above is not about that at all.

The alternative is to appeal to the earthy, corrupted, self-centred, scheming type of wisdom that is quick to appear warm and fuzzy, but is clinical, cold and harsh. Or just as bad, the worldly, insipid, compromised, pathetic style that seeks to appease many without pursuing what’s right and ending up failing everyone.

Consider rejecting the worldly style of wisdom. There is wisdom available to help on earth that come from heaven above and it is marked by that initialy quality of purity.

Pure – refresing, uplifting, clean, sparking – that degree of wisdom at hand. That degree of decision-making available for even the tightest situations in life.

For His Name’s Sake
