Dryden Links: Does The Truth Matter?

The question sounds a bit silly. We know how it goes.

If someone is in a relationship it has to be based on the truth. If one of the parties practices deceptions, offers misinformation deliberately or withholds vital information, that damages the relationship. It’s damaged because of the importance of truth to the health and sustainability of the relationship.

That appears so obvious. It intrigues me, however, how the value of truth changes in different scenarios. Festivals, celebrations, policies, procedures, narratives and agendas can all be compromised through deception, deliberate misinformation or vital information being withheld. Over time it can be tolerated and then accepted as though there was nothing to be concerned about. Nothing – not even the truth.

In the light of that, this article on why truth matters struck me as particularly pertinent to read. I commend it for your consideration. As you consider that, it’s also worth reflecting on whether the truth really matters. You know – the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
