When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven. (Nehemiah 1:4 NLT)
When it finally hits you.
Other people can talk about it, other people can highlight it and other people can make it their issue, but it is only when it finally hits you that you recognise the situation and are challenged about that situation. More often than not the challenge is about whether things can ever be the same.
There are times when individuals felt it. It hit them and it hurt. The state of their nation, the condition of the city, the manner of their community, the way of their family, the look of their marriage, the issue in their own heart. It pains them, it hurts them, it grieves them. There has to be an avenue for expression and it’s not just about looking for something therapeutic. It’s about being able to in that way channel those feelings to One who hears and can engage with that. As we feel that burden to the point of heartbreak, so we acknowledge the need. The need for change, the need for deliverance, the need for the circumstances to be set right from the wrong its in.
To know there’s a channel there to express the sorrow we feel for the situation and may even get into expressing His heart on the situation – that can be the platform on which the change comes about.
Lord, hear my cry to you, make the change and let it start with me.
For His Name’s Sake
