The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.( Proverbs 15:30 ESV)
Sometimes it is the eyes that give it away.
People refer to a twinkle in the eye and in some cases it does appear that the realisation of something has completely changed their outlook on life. There’s few things in life more rewarding and delightful (pun intended) than seeing someone be enlightened by information or something that they have freshly understood. For a teacher that’s the sign of progress and things being worthwhile. For a parent that’s the sign of hope for the child.
In a world that appears driven by bad news, it’s a great honour to be people motivated by good news. Good news that the way of the world is not all bad. Good news that the re are people who love, care and invest in the development of people and the environment. Good news that the weak can be strengthened. Good news that those who mourn can be consoled. Good news tha the simple can gain wisdom. Good news that the abilities and qualities of individuals can be discovered and put to good use that will benefit themselves and others. Good news that relationships can flourish under the guidance of a loving and wise Father.
No wonder there’s joy in the heart at discovering the good news. now it’s for us to be the witness and carrier of good news today.
That will make a refreshing change.
