Moments To Savour

Blessed.

Exemplifying that term is such a varied exercise. But it’s worth while from time to time reflecting on moments to savour to exemplify what it is to be blessed.

When I converse with a brother and he inspires me with his insight on what it is to follow Christ. Then we get to practice that in the community in simple ways, it won’t grab headlines or garner much fuss. It is however a beautiful moment to savour.

Hearing my daughter Deborah explain to her youngest sister why she should share her sweets with her friends. Then seeing her do it without complaint. That’s just brilliant to witness. It’s a beautiful moment to savour.

Seeing folks who have it tough on the streets, find respite, warmth, food to eat and good company for a few hours. That means a lot to me to witness. It’s a step in the right direction. It’s a beautiful moment to savour.

Talking with a friend who is despondent in their situation and just sharing life with them for an hour or so. Not giving them false hope, but sharing the love that gave me comfort. Seeing my friend even crack a smile and laugh. It’s simple, it doesn’t solve everything. It offers consolation and that’s received. It’s a beautiful moment to savour.

I live to experience these things and acknowledge them for what they are. Beautiful moments to savour. God is with us. Even as we cry, we are blessed.
