There are some songs that take a while to grow on you. This is one of them. When I first heard it I was wondering why it would even be considered a gospel song thinking that the only thing making it such was the fact it was sung by a gospel singer. I thought it was a packaged effort to be like a love song of the mushy kind.
Years later I found myself singing the song to myself and appreciating that the lyrics are very rich in yearning for God and His Kingdom – a lot more yearning than we find in some songs. The chilled out feel of the song is also a bonus. For those who remember that as strangers and pilgrims on this earth this is a great song to have in your mind to remind you where you’re going.
